Before joining, ensure that the pipes are cut at a right angle to the axis and correctly chamfered (an angle of 15-30°). Re-chamfer if necessary, particularly after cutting. Check that a socket depth mark is inscribed on the male end of the pipe; re-mark it after cutting.
Bonding:
- Roughen the surface of the male end and the sockets using sandpaper (not a file). Clean both elements to be joined, using a rag soaked in the detergent supplied by the manufacturer.
- Ensure that the ends are dry (do not bond if very wet).
- Apply the adhesive lengthwise in the socket first, and then on the male end.
- Fit together immediately, correctly aligned and without rotation, up to the mark.
- Wait at least 30 minutes before handling the pipes (for 30 minutes to 1 hour in temperatures of 10° and below).
- Wait 24 hours before pressurizing.
Joint assembly:
- Wipe the inside of the socket and the exterior of the male end.
- Check that the joint housing and joint ring are clean and in the correct position in the rim.
- Coat the male end with lubricant (do not lubricate the joint or its housing).
- Fit together properly, lengthwise, up to the mark (use a crowbar and wooden wedge for large diameters).
